Skills/Expertise:

Kevin has over 25 years detailed knowledge and experience gained in the design, supervision and management of electrical and mechanical projects covering a diverse range of building types, construction methods and procurement styles within all work sectors of the modern construction industry.

TKC’s ethos is for total project involvement by Director through to technical assistants and as such a full “hands on” working input is offered by each TKC director assigned to any given project.

Kevin is a particularly strong co-ordinator of electrical and mechanical services designs and places great emphasis on obtaining, understanding and translating to others the specific needs of each particular Client brief. Obtaining a detailed understanding of how a Client’s own business operates and where the exact areas of importance are placed within that business objective, allows the correct level of electrical and mechanical design to be chosen and implemented.

Previous Experience:

Since his mid 20’s, Kevin has occupied increasingly senior positions within large M&E Consultancy Practice’s. Whilst these moves have also increased his overall management skills and ability to efficiently and successfully run a business in the current economic climate, he has always remained hands on and been actively involved with the M&E designs on all projects under his control. A particular strength over the years has been in the understanding, design and implementation of energy efficient lighting installations, several of which have won UK and International Lighting Industry awards for both technical compliance and aesthetic appeal, such as:

Whilst training as an Electrical Engineer, Kevin has had many years experience dealing with issues and coordination of mechanical systems from leisure sector refurbishment projects such as Tiger Lily, Edinburgh through to large commercial projects eg. Scottish Widows HQ in Edinburgh and many others in between.

As a result of the diverse nature of projects worked on, Kevin has particular skills and expertise in the daily management of mixed M&E design teams, critical coordination of M&E design/detailing sympathetic to the building structure, fabric and architectural aesthetic demands, alternative lighting solutions including lighting controls system design, specialised knowledge of various fire protection systems and the design and specification of structured cabling systems and centralised Comms Rooms for IT Services.

Kevin is known within the industry as a particularly strong and proactive team player with a real ability to listen, understand and offer a correct and flexible technical solution for a given particular project.
